Tests -
I will announce all tests with at least one week notice. All study guides are posted here on Weebly or on Edmodo in the "library". The units of study are listed below. All tests will be handed back to students so that they can discuss their progress with their parents. However, they MUST be returned to me, Mrs. Ellis, with a parent signature within three days of being passed back.
Study Guides -
They can be printed from this site and found under the tab "4th Grade Math Study Guides and Check Lists". All study guides will be posted at least one week in advance. I spend a great deal of time preparing the study guide and expect that each child will use it. I list all the vocabulary that will be used on the test and list the concepts they should master for the test. I encourage the students to complete the "Check Your Understanding" sections found at the bottom of each Student Reference Page.
Study Links -
One study link will be assigned each night except on Monday. On Monday, there will be two study links assigned. Our district does not allow homework on Fridays at the elementary level, so the study link that follows Friday's lesson will be assigned Monday night.
The students must use the answer key provided on the back of the "Parent Letter" (always the first study link of the unit) to correct their own study link. This must be done the night before and brought to class already corrected. I will check for correcting marks and a score. Students that do not score well on the study link or have questions regarding any of the homework are encouraged to ask for clarification. I will also do a study link follow up lesson to check for understanding.
I do not keep record of their scores in my gradebook. I will only keep a record of complete/incomplete. They are not to tear out the study link and must keep them until the day of the test. I will ask them to staple them to the coversheet and turn them in on the day of the test.
Parents: Please encourage your child to actively participate in their own learning. If they have a question or do not understand the study link assignment, encourage them to ask for clarification right away. They can ask me using Edmodo, email, or ask in class the next day.
Checklist -
Checklists are always due on the day of the test. All study links for that chapter, review sheets, practice tests, and study guides should be stapled, in order, with the coversheet on top. Students will record the score they received on each study link so that they are self aware of their own strengths/weaknesses. They will receive one point for each study link and five points for each practice test. The total points possible is listed at the bottom of the checklist.
